“I reached out to Steve during one of the lowest points in my physical life. At the time, I was the heaviest and most out of shape I had ever been. Between becoming a new dad and working long hours as a loan officer, my health and fitness had taken a back seat. What made it especially hard to swallow was knowing that I hadn’t always been in that position. Earlier in life, fitness had been a major part of who I was. I had powerlifted competitively, ran distance races, and competed in long-distance cycling events. Those days, however, were in the past.
A lower-back injury in my early thirties changed everything for me. After the injury, a lot of the training and workouts I previously relied on either became impossible or came with pain and setbacks. Running was a grind on my back and powerlifts like squats and deadlifts weren’t in the cards anymore. I became frustrated and honestly unsure if I would ever be able to lift weights consistently again.
Working with Steve gave me a refresh on what the next phase of my fitness journey could look like. We developed a customized strength training and fitness approach that actually worked for my body long term. Steve helped me understand that progress was still possible even with my lower-back issues, and for the first time in years I felt confident lifting again instead of constantly worrying about reinjury. We focused on movements, modifications, and progression strategies that allowed me to steadily rebuild strength.
The nutrition plan worked the same way. We built meals and habits around foods I genuinely enjoyed eating instead of restrictive diets I had tried in the past. He helped me understand how to make sustainable choices for the long haul. I never felt like I had to miss out on experiences just to make progress. I could still go out with friends, enjoy happy hour drinks, and try new restaurants and travel with my family. It was important to me that my weight loss and fitness journey didn’t impact my daily life, and Steve made it possible.
Beyond the physical results, the accountability and coaching made a huge difference for me mentally. Having someone help monitor my progress, adjust plans when needed, and keep me focused during difficult stretches was great. And most important: developing a plan I can carry with me for the rest of my life.”
